One of the things I really miss about Africa is being in the bush. Seeing as this is the time frame for the wildebeest (gnu) migration to be heading into Kenya I thought I would post the route and times. As a general rule of thumb, here are the dates:
- May – June: migration focus is the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
- July – Oct: migration focus is in the Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya and Tanzania
- November – April: migration focus is in the Ngorngoro Conservation Area, Tanzania
(Thanks to Kenyalogy for the image)
Some places to be during the migration:
Masai Mara (Kenya)
Serengeti (Tanzania)

I have been fortunate to see quite a few of the crossings at the Masai Mara. What a truly spectacular force of nature. The anticipation, the false starts, the adrenaline, the crossing, the heart in mouth at the sheer honour of being able to witness such an event.
Breath taking!
