[...] I was able to meet up with a couple more tech guys in Nairobi yesterday. Nicholas Ochiel, the creator of Cheeseforge, helped put the meeting together (in picture with me). I was really impressed with his programming knowledge, as well as his overall understanding of the mobile market in Kenya. He’s done a lot of development work based around SMS and mobile devices, which is intriguing to me, especially since I’m busy with getting stuff off the ground with Zangu.
Nicholas, Magenta does look interesting and might fit in very well with the Zangu concept. I'd love for you to give me a run-through of it. Let's make sure we meet up in July in Nairobi.

For some reason, the link I put in my previous post isn't working. Here's the correct link http://tinyurl.com/qw3ur ( Link )

Congratulations. I love seeing this kind of innovation.

Erik, I don't know if I mentioned that I've been working on Magenta, a service to make mobile content distribution easy as possible. In fact, my ideas for it seem like a perfect fit for the mobile content distribution component you describe above. Because of other commitments and constraints, it was put on the back burner and is still not yet quite ready for release.

Recently, however, I've been getting a lot of mail requesting that I fast track it. Have a look at the link above. If you're interested, give me a shout and I'll prioritize it.

[...] The second of White African’s posts is Zangu News “African News for Africans by Africans” which is still in a beta version. In summary, we believe that the web can truly impact Africans living in Africa in a profound way. The trick is to make the social power of the web available to them through both the internet and mobile phones. Mobile phones being the most common technological platform that Africans have access to since the mobile explosion on the continent started in the mid-1990s. [...]
