I found this piece about how the Chinese Government is now mandating that all phones manufactured in China charge via a standard mini-USB port.

I guess a ton of other devices will be going this route soon. I hate having to carry one adapter for my phone, another for my camera, another for my cell ad nauseam.

When I let my mind wander on the possibilities, I have to wonder if we are not too far away from a mash up where kids can have their OLPC’s “reverse-charged” via USB using devices like this pedal-powered one . . .
