Despite Snuki and his politically appointed board, SAFM is highly informative. I don’t know if I would go so far as to say that this is why blogs in Africa are less important or significant. A lot has been said on this subject recently on the ‘Thought Leader” blog. The bloggers seemed to split along colour or racial lines, some claiming that blogging is a white thing. Nonetheless, well done Nev.

The logo is a little “Google-esque” but at least it succesfully communicates the name. Taken from the Zulu word for tree, the term is a South African word for traditional medicine. For those who are unaware of the site, it is a Digg or Reddit style social bookmarking site started by Neville Newey. […]

The logo is a little “Google-esque” but at least it communicates the meaning. Taken from the Zulu word for tree, the term is a South African word for traditional medicine. For those who are unaware of the site, it is a Digg or Reddit style social bookmarking site started by Neville Newey. Newey is a South African living in California and started the site to allow Africans a unmoderated, user driven new site. Registered users can “vote” on stories submitted by other users and so increase or decrease the “kudus” or popularity of each story. You can read a full interview with Newey here. […]
