This actually ties in with something we’re building – a wiki page called “The Idea Portal” – basically it’s a portal of all the ideas we get, but can’t implement for various reasons. I’ll link to this.
Publicizing them will hopefully get other people with ability to implement some of these good ideas.
Neville – I so believe the social side is the main route to growing out local content. Right on.
]]>Does local content mean site relevant to a particular location, or does it mean that the site is physically hosted at a particular location or both.
ISPs could potentially save international bandwidth costs by aggressively promoting creation of local content, hosted locally. With a critical mass of locally hosted websites, they would be able save costs by encouraging their clientèle to use local (locally hosted) websites which would typically be less costly to access.
This of course requires quality and affordable hosting services locally that are comparable to those offered abroad.
]]>Local content is what generates traffic, and with narrowing international traffic that currently still depends on an expensive satellite connection, it’s just logical to come up with your own content within the local network.
As for that Nokia deal: hehehe…go, Nokia, go! Now they’ll only need to improve the firmware of their devices and get a serious team of “PC Suite” developers 🙂
