It’s no secret that Apple’s recipe to success has been that because they control all content (for better or worse), software and hardware in the chain, it all works VERY well. It’s a closed off system but it works well for the end user.
Isn’t that the goal at the end? The end user experience? I know none of you like closed systems and love Unix, but we have to wake up to reality and recognized that a controlled environment allows for a controlled experience. I’m not saying it’s the only way, just to recognize that is what has been working for Apple and the app store and more importantly, the end user. That is what has been working for Apple since they opened their doors, a closed & controlled environment on their computers.
I’m curious to hear about the discussions at GMC for new means of discoverability.
