But how about those who are both?
Do you have any suggestions as to the kind of work that might be fulfilling for those who are both, in a society that thinks small and expects people to be accordingly limited?
THANKS
]]>More than anything in life, I think that balance is key. Everyone is so busy swinging on the pendulum from one extreme to the other and can never seem to find the middle ground.
My point was exactly what you are saying. Though a strategist might outwardly appear like the brightest and best candidate, they are not necessarily for the position. There are few positions that a strategist is really cut out for. However, there are many more jobs out there that actually need tactical thinkers, management just doesn’t realize it.
]]>My company is pretty frustrating for the “balance” reason you talked about. The policy has been to hire strategists for just about everything, since these SEEM to be the brightest and best, and then expect them to act like tacticians, since the job for which they were hired is not strategic at all.(All military and Native Peoples proverbs seem to fly right out the window.) The result is a lot of bright, underused, bored people who don’t really get to do what they do best. (Including yours truly. Blech.)
