For an app to take off in Africa, it will have to be truly useful, provide real value and convenience. Yes, a market exists for games, fun & leisure apps, but the major driver of uptake will have to be apps that solve real problems. Another critical aspect is the issue of mode of payments, but that is another discussion

I’m in South Africa. Got my first smart phone (cheapest) but I find it hard to use for browsing compared to a PC. But I’ll struggle on. If a granny like me is anxious to get surfing using a smart phone, I believe it’s going to explode pretty soon with more & more mobile surfers. Who should I ask to make me a mobile website?
