So, what does it take to get a bunch of Kenyan bloggers together for some nyama choma, a cold drink and a good chat?
Your friendly white African will be heading back to Kenya for the first couple weeks of July. I’m looking forward to seeing many of the individuals that I’ve come to know through blogs and comments over the last year. Is there some way to schedule a meetup the first weekend in July?
I’m particularly excited about this trip for a couple of reasons that I’ll get into more detail in later posts on. Here’s a short summary:
Most of you are familiar with the paper I wrote on a web technology for Africa. As you can see from my last post, we are actively developing Zangu News now. I’d like to use the time that I am in East Africa to interview urban and rural Kenyans to find out about their mobile/web activity. Along with that, my goal is to talk to other “tech” people who are actively working on web projects there so that I can better understand the issues they deal with on a daily basis.
RVA, my alma mater, is having it’s Centennial celebration (yes, that’s 100 years folks). I run the RVA Alumni website, and appreciate the school and the network it provides. I plan on being a part of this historic event.
I hope that I can meet many of you when I visit Kenya (and possibly Tanzania and Rwanda). Please shoot me an email if you would like to get together while I’m in town. I still think a big meetup with large slabs of meat and cold drinks sounds best!

I knew there was someone who knew how to put things together, I just for the life of me couldn’t remember who. Shiroh and Nakeel make sense as the culprits though. 🙂
